From Aggie Beginnings to Forever: Sarah & Will McGuire’s Wedding Story

How They Met & The Proposal

Sarah and Will’s story began in a simple, almost unassuming way during their college years at Texas A&M. Will first noticed Sarah while she was working at a restaurant where he was having lunch with a friend. Their real connection came later, through conversations at a party, crossing paths on campus, and small, meaningful moments like Sarah wishing him luck on a test she’d only heard about once. It didn’t take long for their friendship to grow into something deeper, from becoming gym partners to even taking on the fun challenge of becoming dance partners together.

When it came time to propose, Will had always planned to wait, but as their relationship grew, he knew he didn’t want to wait any longer. Knowing how much Sarah values family, he planned the proposal around their undergraduate graduation, ensuring both families would be nearby. In a sweet twist, Sarah unknowingly helped set up part of her own proposal by putting up lights the day before, thinking it was just for a family gathering. After graduation, Will led her to the backyard, asked her to close her eyes, and got down on one knee. Ending his heartfelt words with their signature phrase, he asked, “What the heck…Sarah, will you marry me?” a perfectly personal and unforgettable moment.

The Vision

Sarah’s vision for the wedding was simple, elegant, and deeply intentional. She incorporated meaningful details throughout the day, from personalized table numbers that reflected milestones in their relationship to hints of maroon honoring their Aggie spirit. Soft lighting played a big role in creating a warm and inviting atmosphere, paired with classic, understated centerpieces that allowed guests to feel connected.

Every element was thoughtfully chosen to reflect who they are as a couple. From handcrafted marquee letters to a curated playlist filled with songs meaningful to their relationship, the day was filled with personal touches. A pasta bar (one of their favorite foods) and a live wedding painter added even more creativity and personality. While the overall look felt effortless and elegant, every detail was rooted in intention.

Why The Inn at Quarry Ridge

Sarah first fell in love with The Inn at Quarry Ridge before she was even engaged. While teaching a dance lesson at the venue, she was immediately drawn to its beauty, from the pond and fountain to the inviting reception space. She knew then it would be the perfect place for a future wedding.

After the proposal, she shared the vision with Will, and they booked the venue before he had even seen it in person. But the moment he stepped onto the property, he knew it was the perfect choice. The Inn’s natural beauty and welcoming atmosphere made it the ideal setting for their celebration.

The Wedding Ceremony

Sarah and Will chose to have their ceremony at Saint Mary’s Catholic Center in College Station, creating a deeply meaningful and faith-centered beginning to their marriage. The ceremony was everything they had hoped for, from the moment their families walked in to music inspired by the Corinthians verse “Love is patient, love is kind,” to the sweet entrance of their nieces as flower girls.

When the doors opened and Sarah saw Will waiting at the altar, it became a moment she would never forget. The ceremony included meaningful readings, a thoughtful homily, and the sacred exchange of vows and rings. Rooted in the beauty of Catholic tradition, the ceremony emphasized unity, sacrifice, and love, marking the beginning of their life together in a powerful and intentional way.

The Wedding Reception

Their reception at The Inn at Quarry Ridge was nothing short of unforgettable. Wanting to be fully present with their guests, Sarah and Will chose to take all photos before the reception so they could enjoy every moment starting at cocktail hour. Guests were treated to an incredible spread of food, including crawfish tartlets, crab cakes, mini beef wellingtons, sliders, and a bruschetta bar, perfect for their food-loving families.

The celebration continued with a joyful entrance and first dance to “I’m On My Way,” blending both choreography and genuine, heartfelt moments. Dinner featured a custom pasta bar, one of their favorite foods, followed by meaningful speeches from their fathers.

From parent dances to cake cutting and even a chocolate fountain, the night was filled with joy. The dance floor stayed full, and Sarah described it as feeling like a true fairytale. The evening ended with a final dance to “From the Ground Up,” surrounded by family and friends, a beautiful reminder of the love and community that supported them as they began their marriage.

Advice From the Bride

“Give yourself time,” Sarah shares. As a full-time dental student, she planned her wedding over a year and a half, allowing space to enjoy the process without stress. She encourages brides to embrace creative projects but to be realistic about the time they require and to invite friends along to make it even more meaningful.

Most importantly, she advises letting go of perfection. “If you expect perfection, it’ll be a mess. But if you expect small problems, you can handle them. What matters most is the marriage, not the day.”

Favorite Moment

For Sarah, one of the most unforgettable moments was when the ceremony doors opened and she saw Will waiting at the altar. Although her veil unexpectedly fell off as she began walking down the aisle, it turned out to be a perfect moment, allowing her to see him clearly. In that instant, everything else faded away, and it was just the two of them.
