Dylan and Megan Celebrate The Best Day
How They Met & The Proposal
Dylan and Megan first met in a Texas A&M University marketing class. They were put in a group project together and Dylan asked Megan on a date to “test the group product”. The product was a chopstick trainer and so they went to a sushi restaurant. After the date, they talked the night away in the parking lot and the total date ended up being 9 hours long. Fast forward 4 and 1/2 years of dating, Dylan proposed on a mountain top overlooking the city of Barcelona. The couple had been traveling for a friend’s wedding and decided to make a trip of it. Megan had been sure the proposal was coming and Dylan had planned the whole thing to happen at Park Guell, an architectural masterpiece. The couple had been very excited to visit until they learned they needed tickets to get in that were no longer available. Megan was so confused when Dylan handled the situation so calmly that she was completely thrown off the scent of the proposal and he ended up getting to surprise her with his backup plan.
The Ceremony
Dylan and Megan chose a family friend to officiate the ceremony. It took place outside at the gazebo. Megan said, “Wade, our officiant, did an excellent job of encapsulating the type of love and commitment that we wanted to share with our family and friends.” The couple chose “spring garden party” for the theme they followed. They used the aquamarine shade from Megan’s engagement ring as their base color and went from there.
The Reception
The reception was full of fun and celebration. Megan and Dylan were hoisted up on chairs above the crowd, they danced a lot, and the bouquet got caught in the chandelier when it was thrown (shoutout Ben the Bartender for getting it down). “Our reception was AMAZING! Gelato instead of cake was a huge hit, and our dance floor was packed the entire night. DJ Franco did an excellent job at reading the crowd and our friends and family really brought the energy to make the night better than we could have ever hoped for.”
Why The Inn
We chose the Inn at Quarry Ridge because we could rent it for the entire weekend, and have our wedding party stay onsite. It really eliminated a lot of hassle, and gave us a great location to hang out with our friends after wedding hours. We ended up having a pool party until 3 AM and everyone had a BLAST!
Advice From the Bride
Choose your people wisely. My maid of honor Kara made sure I had three meals, plenty of water, and a drink in my hand always. My bridesmaids brought the energy on the dance floor, and handled any questions that could have possibly been thrown my way. Something will always go wrong, but having support and knowing your people can and will take care of it makes all the difference. Also have a day of coordinator - Hailey Taylor from Uniquely Set events is awesome!
Favorite Moment
Megan- My dad’s speech was my favorite moment. He absolutely knocked it out of the park and it is definitely a top 3 core memory. Dylan had been known as “The Boy” for 6 years, and my dad called him by his name for the first time. “Dylan, son, I liked you from the first moment I met you. You put a sparkle in my little girl’s eye, and for that I can’t thank you enough”. Makes me tear up every time I think about it.
Dylan- My favorite moment was hanging out with our friends after the wedding in the hot tub and by the fire pit. We were up until 3 AM celebrating with our favorite people. That and the EDM music on the dance floor!
