Cathy & Rob - June 4, 2016

Rob and I met on what would be approximately two years before our wedding day. We met on June 6th, 2014 at Hurricane Harry’s. The Josh Abbott Band was performing that night, and the place was packed to the point you could hardly move. When I say that I bumped into the love of my life at a dance hall, I laugh because I literally bumped into Rob. He apologized, and we quickly joked about how crowded the place was before he went on his way. To my surprise I was interrupted a few minutes later by Rob coming back to ask me if I’d like to dance. It all started with a dance, and the rest was history. We went on our first date two days later. Rob and I were inseparable. He really became my best friend. After he finally broke the ice and said he loved me for the first time, I have yet been able to not say it at least 100 times a day since then. I like to put it like this… I may be extremely indecisive about the little things in life like what I want for dinner every night, but I have never been more sure in my life that I want to spend the rest of my days eating dinner with Rob.

After 10 months of dating, our proposal was the perfect reflection of our witty and light-hearted love for each other. Better yet, it was a perfect reflection of Rob’s ability to drive me crazy. Both of our families came into town because Rob received his Fightin’ Texas Aggie Ring. On the way back to the parking garage, we passed the century tree. Our friend, Conner, had been there taking pictures of Rob’s ring day, and he wanted to take pictures of us at the century tree. As we walked under the tree, Rob turned to me and stated that he didn’t really want to {just} date anymore. Mad, upset, and confused I looked at him asking what he was talking about. He just looked at me, paused, and reached into his pocket because “his phone was ringing”. I look away and then back to find him getting down on one knee while saying: “I don’t just want to date anymore, because I’d rather marry you instead.” With tears streaming down my face and an extreme urge to slap him for making my emotions go through a roller coaster, I blubbered out “Yes!” and can still hear our families crying, laughing, and cheering in the background.

Our wedding day was seriously a dream come true. Originally, our wedding was supposed to be outside by the gazebo, but with summer showers off and on the entire day, it was moved inside at the last minute. (And you would have never known had I not just told you!) It just goes to show that God’s plans are so much better than our own, because it was even more beautiful than I could have ever imagined! My amazing team of vendors did a great job of taking my vision and turning it into reality. It went by in a blur, but it was one big happy blur! All we could say was how much fun we had and how beautiful it all came together. We felt extremely blessed to have such loving friends and family. From being surrounded by my favorite people to our heartfelt vows, I don’t think I could not have been happier on my big day. We are so excited to see what God has in store next for us.
