Evan & Jenee’s Rustic, Love Filled Wedding Weekend

How They Met

It all started when Jenee was on the University of Hartford dance team, performing at all the men’s home basketball games. Little did she know that one of those tall, dark, and handsome college athletes (that her freshman-self so shamelessly admired) would turn out to be her future husband! Fast forward three years later to her senior year, Jenee found herself at the campus gym trying to run off the calories consumed over the summer break, when she noticed a somewhat familiar face out of the corner of her eye. That familiar face was confidently belting out whatever song he was listening to loud enough for everyone to hear. It just so happened that they met eyes in the mirror and she tried so hard not to give him the time of day, but she couldn’t help but smile at his boldness. These unplanned meetings happened a few times before he made the first move, and the rest is history…

Almost. After graduation, they both moved home (Evan to The Woodlands, TX and Jenee to Lititz, PA) to figure out what their next steps were individually. They both worked hard making the long distance relationship work for almost a year, but it was extremely difficult. Since graduation, Jenee had always pictured herself moving away from where she grew up to experience a new type of environment. This seemed like the perfect opportunity for herself and Evan to finally live within driving distance from each other. Jenee started applying for jobs at the beginning of 2018 and was blessed to be offered a full-time position just 3 months later in Houston, TX. So she picked up her whole life and went. This was an idea that she had for so long, but never thought that she’d have the courage to go through with. Upon saying her goodbyes to friends and family, Jenee started the road trip in May of 2018 and started her new job at the beginning of June.

The Proposal

Just 3 months later, Evan & Jenee traveled to Ocean City, NJ for what she thought was going to be her families regular annual family beach trip, which they had been doing for 35+ years! Although, much to her surprise Evan was planning a surprise proposal at sunrise on the beach in front of her friends and family. It was a very beautiful moment.

The Ceremony

The ceremony had a “Rustic Greenery” feel to it, using a lot of wooden accents, greenery, and neutral colors. It took place at the outdoor gazebo on a warm evening in October. They each wrote their own vows, and honored their parents having a “Tree of Love”. Combining soil from each of their parents homes to a potted tree, symbolizing the critical roles that their parents played in helping get them to where they are now!

The Reception

The reception was a blast! For their first dance, Evan & Jenee choreographed a beautiful dance. The food from Admiral Catering was delicious, and Suit & Tie Entertainment had everyone having the time of their lives on the dance floor. It was truly a night to remember.

From The Bride

Why The Inn

  • “As soon as we arrived we felt at home! We loved the idea of having the whole weekend to celebrate and that the bridal party (who mostly had traveled from out of state to be with us) could stay over and not have to worry about lodging! It worked out so perfectly!”

Advice From The Bride

  • “Try your best to enjoy every moment! It can be hard not to get overwhelmed by all the little details but, just remember it’s the marriage that matters the most!”

Favorite Moment

  • “I can’t pick just one! Either praying with Evan behind a door before the ceremony, or seeing his face for the first time during the first look!”
