Jacob & Melody’s Fairytale Wedding
How They Met & The Proposal
Jacob and Melody had a modern start to their story, meeting on a dating app in February 2021. Though Melody was nervous for their first meeting in person, the date was a success and they’ve been smitten ever since. They got to know each other in the midst of the covid shut downs while Melody finished veterinary school and Jacob pursued his chemistry PhD. When the day came, the proposal completely surprised Melody. “I had no idea it was happening! I even told him, while standing in the midst of all of the cute stuff, ‘Babe look- I think someone is proposing here!’” Melody had walked across yellow rose petals (one of her favorite flowers) to a gazebo lit with tea candles and decorated just for her. Jacob popped the question on March 18, 2023. And to make it the perfect proposal for Melody, their friends and family stepped out of the bushes at Messina Hof Winery’s gazebo to surprise her and witness the special moment.
The Ceremony
The ceremony was very sentimental to the couple. Dr. Dan Kendall was chosen to officiate since he had watched Melody grow up and had taken Jacob under his wing the moment the couple started to get serious. Melody’s father had passed away a few years prior so she had her mom walk her down the aisle. It was a special moment for both of them. Jacob’s family and friends flew in from all over the country to be there with the couple. Their flower girl was none other than Melody’s sorority little from when she was in undergrad. The theme and vision for the ceremony and reception was very princess-y with blush, cream and eucalyptus green as their colors.
The Reception
Our reception was a wild and fun time! Jake and I performed a choreographed waltz as our first dance, which we were very nervous for as we are not trained dancers. It was perfectly paired with the fog machines that our DJ brought. It was an open bar so a lot of my friends got rowdy (the photos are HILARIOUS) and it was a great time. Only 60 people were at our wedding, so we were able to talk to and hang out with most of everyone, which made it very intimate. We gave out succulents, as our favors, from a local plant shop in Bryan (Succs N Such), which Jake and I have been shopping at together throughout our whole relationship.
Why The Inn
It was the perfect size and location, it was beautiful even if we chose to not decorate at all, it included a day-of coordinator package, and it just felt “right” when we toured. I had the venue and date booked within 7 days of getting proposed to!
Advice From the Bride
Give yourself enough time to breathe! I had 1.5 years to plan the wedding and it was so nice. Getting the big vendors (venue/date, food, photography) out of the way first will save you a lot of headache.
Favorite Moment
The finale dip of our waltz was our favorite! It was perfect, the photo is perfect, and it was the end product of months of our dance practices.
