Ixca and Toni’s Classic Vintage Wedding

How They Met

Ixca and Toni met in a very 21st century way. It didn’t seem like too many good things came from the years of the pandemic, but it did bring these two together. While the world seemed to be separated with only the internet as connection, Ixca and Toni actually found each other on a dating app.

The Proposal

Ixca and Toni were traveling back home from a trip to Tennessee. They decided to stop in Arkansas to visit some state parks. While Toni thought they were just trying to find a good view, Ixca drove and drove, looking for a specific overlook where he wanted to propose. They didn’t have any service and their maps kept taking them down dirt roads. At this point, Toni was tired and hungry and told Ixca they should just head home, but he was determined. Just a few minutes later, they came across a beautiful lake. There was no one around so, with the lake all to themselves, they decided it was the perfect opportunity for a photo op. Ixca set up the camera and innocently came to pose next to Toni for a “photo”. He then surprised Toni with the proposal!

The Ceremony & Reception

Toni’s vision was a vintage, classic themed wedding. She wanted simple decor, lots of real flowers, with minimal glits and glamour. They chose sage green and ivory as their colors, with hints of pink and gold. They decided to have their ceremony outside at the gazebo and kept it short and sweet because of that good ol’ Texas heat. Toni’s best friend from college officiated the ceremony and they featured a Unity Ceremony. This involved colored glass crystals that will be shipped to a glasswork artist and turned into a vase. The newlyweds and guests then headed into Stonehem Hall for the reception. The couple said they had so much fun with their family and friends. They drank a lot, danced a lot and even spiced it up by dancing to some Spanish music! Overall, it was the perfect evening for the couple.

Why The Inn

“It was the most affordable place in town and included way more in the package than other venues. It was the perfect size for our wedding-not too big, not too small. For us, it would have been foolish to spend our money elsewhere. Stonehem Hall is stunning, the property is beautiful, and the staff is so kind.”

Advice From the Bride

“Get a venue that has coordinators or pay for coordinators yourself, either way GET THEM! They relieve so much stress and take care of the tiny details for you that get annoying and make you feel more stressed. Go into wedding planning with the mindset that it’s about you committing your life to another person and everything else is just extra. It’s not worth ruining a day as important as your wedding day with stress. Go into it with the intention that you’re not going to let yourself get overwhelmed. Whatever happens…happens.”

Favorite Moment

“Definitely the First Look. We were both really nervous and jittery before the first look. When we saw each other we both just let all of our nerves and emotions go away and we cried. After we composed ourselves, we said our vows and spent a few moments together, just the two of us. That was the last moment we had alone together until the wedding was over. The First Look helped eliminate nerves and emotions so when it was time to walk down the aisle, I was completely ready and could take it all in.”
