2023 American Heroes Dream Wedding Giveaway Winners
Tyler and Mayson met back in August of 2016. Mayson was moving in at Angelo State University, where Tyler was playing football. The football team was required to help incoming students move into the dorms on move in day. For the football players, the strategy to make the day bearable was to spot the cute girls and help them move. Tyler spotted Mayson from across the parking lot and rushed up to help (apparently he thought Mayson was cute!). When he arrived and asked Mayson and her mom if they needed any help, Mayson’s mom was quick to just start handing him things to take to the dorm room. Instead of looking at what her mom was handing Tyler and just eager to get everything inside, Mayson failed to realize that her mom handed him a clear plastic container of her bras and underwear. Immediately knowing what her mom gave him, she turned red and was absolutely mortified! After he helped move in all her things, they just went on about their day. After that day, they kept running into each other and found out they only lived one dorm hall apart. They began hanging out and studying together and ended up spending almost every day together for the next 2 years. They were best friends with secret feelings for each other. They remained friends for 5 1/2 years before starting to date. They dated for a short 6 months and already knew they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together so the ring shopping began! They had dated for a year and a half when both sides of their families went on a Christmas vacation in Ruidoso, New Mexico. Both of their families had the chance to vacation together and get to know one another. Tyler thought it was the perfect time to take what Mayson thought were “family photos''. With snow slightly coming down and wind blowing, Tyler took Mayson outside to take “couples pictures” first. This was when he got down on one knee and asked Mayson to marry him. Mayson said “This part I definitely had to ask him what I even said because I blacked out and couldn’t remember a thing because of how excited I was”. Best friends since college and now Tyler and Mayson get to spend the rest of their days together! They said “We cannot wait to do life together!”
Mayson is in her 3rd year of teaching and now works as a 3rd grade teacher for Summerville ISD. As a teacher, Mayson sees a lot of students who are under-privileged and that don’t have a lot of everyday necessities in order to be successful in life. Tyler and Mayson would like to spend their time helping students with some of the money they would have spent on the wedding if it weren’t for the American Heroes Dream Wedding. They also plan to use the money saved on strategically making investments that would supplement charities they would like to give to in the future.
